About me
My name is Kim Vassallo (she/her) and I'm deeply curious and sensitive by nature, particularly when it comes to other people. I’m often touched by the stories and the parts of themselves that people choose to share with me, and I hold deep respect for the uniqueness of each story as well as for the shared human themes that run through us all.
As a Gestalt therapist (in training) and Psychologist MSc., I support people who want to understand themselves better and live in a way that feels more authentic and alive. I have experience working in both the public and private mental health sectors, as well as volunteering with charities and non-profit organisations supporting a range of social and health initiatives. I’m passionate about prevention and understanding how the systems we live in can both nurture and challenge our well-being. My approach is grounded in compassion - for ourselves and for the contexts we find ourselves in.
"It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society"
- Jiddu Krishnamurti
Background
I was born and raised in Italy to British and Belgian parents, and I’ve called several countries home, including the UK and now the Netherlands. As an expat and adult third-culture kid (TCK), I understand the richness and challenges that come with moving countries and adjusting to a new culture, including language barriers, cultural shock, loneliness and loss. I bring this additional layer of understanding and empathy when working with Expats, international students, immigrants and refugees navigating similar transitions.
